WHS is also a very highly ranked high school in Alaska and is a perennial powerhouse in athletics.  Wasilla's girls basketball team is a 5 time state champion team and the boys wrestling team is a 4 time state champion.

WHS has been nominated by the College Board as an AP Alaskan Outstanding School in Math and Science as a result of the high scores students received in AP exams.
